Select your System Type First!:
Help: Conventional Well System
This is the standard water well system type that uses single speed pumps, large pressure tanks, and typically has a 20lbs fluctuation in pressure.
Conventional Well System:
Help: Constant Pressure System
Also known as Variable Frequency Drives. These advanced systems increase and decrease your pumps output level to match water demand. The benefits of this system are constant pressure, increased pump life span, less room taken from a large pressure tank. (A much smaller tank is used in these systems)
Constant Pressure System:

Help: Pump Capacity
The amount of water that your pump can deliver into your system. Given in Gallons Per Minute (GPM)
(this number can vary a great deal, but 5 to 15 GPM's is fairly common among residential pump systems.)
Pump Capacity:
GPM's
Help: Pressure Setting
On a conventional system the pressure setting has two values. The first (lower) number is the point at which your pump will turn on, and the second (higher) number is the point at which your system will turn off. (40/60 is standard)
On a Constant Pressure System there is only a single (high) number that tells the system when to turn the pump on and off. (60psi is standard) For more information on Constant PRessure Systems See our Constant Pressure page under products and services.
Pressure Setting:
Help: Pressure Tank Brand
The brand of your pressure tank. Changes the pressure tank selection below.
Pressure Tank Brand:
Help: Pressure Tank
The model of the common pressure tanks. The pressure tank holds a buffer of water so your pump does not have to turn on every time water is used. It also provides water pressure and gives a reserve of water if power goes out.
(WX-203's are very common)
Pressure Tank Name:

Help: Total Tank Volume
The total volume of your pressure tank. This number is automatically generated when you select a pressure tank, or you may manually enter a number.
Total Tank Volume:
Gallons
Help: Max Draw Down
The total amount of water that your pressure tank holds, approximately 1/3 of your tank's total volume. The remainder of your tank holds air which allows the tank to apply pressure to your system. This number is calculated based off of your tanks total volume and your pressure setting.
Max Draw-Down:
00.0
Gallons

Note on using this simulator!
The Virtual Pump System is provided as a reference tool and to help demonstrate how a typical domestic water well system works. The figures provided by it are approximate.
